Manufacturing overview
High-frequency PCB projects depend on the specified material system and electrical targets. Submit laminate requirements, stackup and any impedance requirements for review.
Name the material requirement
State whether a particular grade is mandatory, whether an approved material list applies or whether alternatives can be proposed. Material substitution requires clear approval conditions.
Define the electrical construction
Include layer arrangement, copper requirements, impedance targets and tolerances. Specify any impedance coupons or requested reports with the quotation package.
RF performance starts with the material and stackup
For an RF PCB, the laminate grade, dielectric thickness, copper construction and transmission-line geometry belong in one specification. Material options include Rogers laminates, PTFE-based systems and hybrid constructions. These material categories are not interchangeable, and brand names alone do not determine circuit performance.
| RF requirement | Review focus |
|---|---|
| Material grade | Approved grade, dielectric data and permitted substitutions. |
| Electrical target | Operating requirements and impedance structures. |
| Stackup | Dielectric thickness, copper and reference layers. |
| Verification | Agreed impedance measurements and required records. |
What to include in your quotation request
Provide the fabrication package and drawing at one revision. Distinguish fixed requirements from items open to engineering proposals. Include quantity and the required ship or arrival date; the material, construction and verification scope must be reviewed before the delivery plan is confirmed.
- Fabrication artwork, drill data and mechanical outline.
- Stackup, material grades and finished copper requirements.
- Surface finish, critical tolerances and special features.
- Required inspection, test conditions and documentation.
- Quantity, project stage, destination and date requirement.
